DFI - Week 4 - Dealing with Data
Understanding Manaiakalani Kaupapa
SHARE - Tohatoha
I enjoyed hearing and learning about this part of the Manaiakalani pedagogy, Share.
As Dorothy explained sharing has always been around since the beginning of the time. It is an instinct that we all maintain and use to build and form relationships.
The only thing that has really changed is the mode. The biggest change to human kind is 'social media' the speedy and accessibility. It is by social media and the variety of platforms that it has established an authentic audience.
As I make sense of the pedagogy, it is amazing to see the pedagogy and unfold and as I am new to teaching in Tamaki, in the Glen Inne's area, and developing an understanding behind the pedagogy, with the three key factors of LEARN, CREATE and SHARE, they all unlined the main purpose of motivating our learners to engage with curriculum being 21st century learners.
CREATING TIME
(yipppee... I embedded a google form and it worked!!!)
Our purpose today was to collect data and present it.
Our task was to look a sample blog or use your class blog and look at the stats of your class blog and using google drawing and google spread sheet, create a graph and analysis the data.
Below is the end product and guys.... this was not easy...
I used google drawing to create and remembered what I learnt last week.
Today's session was really intense. There was mentions of the exam that we would be participating in, and I will just need to practice, practice and practice.
'Go as fast as I can, and as slow as I must'
SHARING
Application
Exploring google forms, my maps, spreadsheet, was an eye opener. As I keep exploring these, I need to try and design a task to use this to help me become more confident. I know these google apps will definitely help with my management of workflow.
I enjoyed today, exploring google drawings again, and I remembered the learning from last week.
Using spread sheet got me. However, I needed to take deep breathes and go slowly and keep trying. Clicking on cells, adding formulas to add cells can be tricky too, but try again. I really the like the graphs it can create and that calculating cells made it so easy.
I can definitely see the benefits of using these apps and the implications into my classroom practice and managing my workflow.
Fa'afetai lava, manuia le aso, till next post, next Tuesday.
